Perla del Garda winery, founded by Giovanna Prandini and her brother Ettore, and located within Lake Garda DOC wine territory, has been dedicated to crafting fine wines from the region’s indigenous white grape Turbiana (also known as Trebbiano di Lugana), as well as from other varietals since 2000. The terroir of the Lake Garda DOC is characterized by mineral-rich soil enriched with marine elements, and a temperate climate moderated by cool breezes coming off Lake Garda. These conditions are ideal for producing white and rose’ wines with a vivacious floral and fruity character.
Giovanna and Ettore’s approach to winemaking is guided by one principle: Make wines that reflect the unique microclimate and soil of the Lake Garda area. This means producing fresh and crisp wines with lively acidity, balanced salinity, and multi-dimensional fruit and mineral characteristics. Perla del Garda’s wines encompass these elements, making them quintessentially Lake Garda.
Grapes are hand-picked, and gravity and other minimal intervention methods are employed to ensure that grapes are gently processed to preserve their colors and flavors. Roughly 20% of a vineyard has been sustainable certified since 2013. The sister and brother team continue to produce wines that are emblematic of the Lake Garda region.
