Presenting the wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia at Bryant Park Grill

On October 8, 2025, wine media and trade professionals were given the rare opportunity to explore wines from the renowned Italian wine territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia through a comprehensive tasting at New York City’s Bryant Park Grill that brought together almost 40 of the region’s best producers. The event was organized by leading wine, spirits, and beverage marketing agency Colangelo & Partners, and also featured an insightful masterclass highlighting the DOCs of Friuli Venezia Giulia conducted by Italian wine expert Jeff Porter.

A vast array of Friuli Venezia Giulia wines crafted from both native and international grapes sourced from vineyards spanning a diverse range of terroirs were presented that afternoon. Friuli-Venezia Giulia, encompassing the northeastern Italian wine producing regions of Friuli, the Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige, and bordering the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south, has around 28,500 hectares of vineyards, and is renowned for its fresh and crisp, fruit and mineral-driven white wines.

The region also produces full-bodied and structured, berry and dark fruit-driven red wines. White wines account for roughly two-thirds, and red wines, one-third of total production. Its cool climate and eclectic landscape of hills and mountains to the north, and verdant valleys and coastal plains to the south, offer diverse terrain for cultivating everything from indigenous grapes like Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Terrano del Carso, and Schioppettino, to international varietals such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
